CREST, managed by the British Science Association, is founded on the belief that every young person should have the opportunity to explore their curiosity about the world and engage in hands-on activities that build essential skills — from research and data analysis to teamwork and communication.
Why support CREST?
As a registered charity, the British Science Association is reliant on grants and donations to help us deliver the CREST Awards, particularly to students from backgrounds underrepresented in science where we know cost is one of many barriers.
By supporting CREST you will be supporting a nationally recognised education programme that is instrumental in inspiring tomorrow’s scientists, technologists and engineers. Your funding will allow the CREST Awards to further address challenges such as:
Gender
CREST’s hands-on activities place real-world contexts at the centre of science education, making it accessible and engaging for all young people. Each year, CREST consistently delivers gender-equitable participation — with girls completing, on average, 52% of all CREST Awards.
Geography
CREST’s low-resource, easy-to-run activities help overcome geographical barriers — including limited transport links — making them accessible to young people across the UK. We welcome partnerships that enable us to extend resources and opportunities to students in the UK and beyond.
Learning needs
CREST activities are flexible, accessible, and pupil-led, allowing children to start at their level and shape their own investigations. Suggested age ranges are flexible, and activities can be adapted to individual needs. We're expanding our inclusive resources to support even more learners.
Resources

Delivering impact in partnership with Urenco
The British Science Association is proud to have partnered with Urenco for over a decade.
Together, British Science Association has developed new CREST resources — including elements of Urenco’s Richie programme — and in 2017, their support helped us to open CREST to international markets. Most recently, their funding enabled the launch of a new CREST Discovery Award resource.
We’re delighted to have Urenco as our CREST headline partner and grateful for our landmark three-year partnership running through to 2026.
