Making STEM Education in the UK equitable
CREST is a scheme run by the British Science Association, that inspires young people to think and behave like scientists and engineers. We believe every young person in the UK must be given the opportunity to actually do science.
We are actively searching for organisations to fund the CREST Awards to keep costs low for participants and to enable as many young people as possible to take part.

Why Support CREST?
By supporting CREST, you’ll benefit from association with the British Science Association's flagship education programme and be instrumental in inspiring tomorrow’s scientists, technologists and engineers.
As well as cost, we recognise that there are often substantial barriers that schools face when trying to support students from backgrounds that are underrepresented in science. The CREST Awards are designed to support the following:
Gender

Girls; 52% of all CREST Awards are completed by girls
Geography

Young people attending schools in rural areas
Learning needs

Young people with special educational needs or disabilities.
Under-resourced

Young people from lower socio-economic backgrounds

Ways to support CREST
Engage funding

Engage is a community of teachers in schools in challenging circumstances who share ideas, access inspiring resources and apply for grants to help bring science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) to life for all young people.
CREST kit boxes

CREST kit boxes provide schools, educators and STEM Ambassadors with an one-stop solution for delivering inspiring, fun and relatable STEM activities to school children.
Fund a CREST Award

CREST is a nationally recognised scheme for student-led project work in the STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering and maths). We aim to keep costs low and participation high, with entry fees starting at £1 per student.

Case Study: Urenco
Urenco have worked with the British Science Association for over 10 years.
Since then, they have worked with us to develop new CREST resources, including components of Urenco’s Richie programme.
They also helped the British Science Association launch a new CREST Discovery Award resource and helped CREST open its doors to international markets in 2017. Urenco are now Headline Partners of CREST Awards, thanks to their landmark three-year partnership with the British Science Association, until 2026.
